This is the first one I did. While sitting at the computer deciding what to do I couldn't think about anything other than my incredible exhaustion from not sleeping the night before, so I figured I'd just use that as my subject matter. The repetition of the word "sleepy" is supposed to represent the overwhelming quality of the sensation, while the light blue was chosen because I feel that is a very sleepy color. That color fades as the words get progressively wavier both to indicate a fading of reality and also to draw the eye downward. The "zzz." is bold and black to illustrate the sudden onset of sleep.
This is the second! After fiddling with the tools forEVER and realizing that they all seem to make whatever I do look really gaudy, I thought I should just embrace the idea and make something as horrible gaudy as possible. However, the quickly degenerated into me experimenting with composition and color. But that's okay. Composition is something that I feel I am very, very close to understanding, but still don't. I'd love to really good get it.
Both compositions are interesting. Must say that the gaudy speaks to me a bit more. Reminiscent of the pop art and poster art movement pieces in the 50s and 60s. Feels almost like a Peter Phillips piece or even Warhol-esque in some ways.
