As the third quote's purpose is to negate the emotions of the first, I wanted the mood of the piece to be contrasted between the quotes; however, I did not want the contrast to be obvious, and attempted to make mood slightly unsettling throughout. To do this I used bright, contrasting colors for most of the piece and then darker colors for the third quote.
The "delicious" quote I made big and placed at the top of the piece to act as a sort of all governing commandment of some deity. The word "cake" running repeatedly below it is supposed to be an overbearing addition to it. The boxes are filled with the "lie" quote to represent notions contrary to this God tha surface every now and then but are quickly submersed again as the God repeats its command. However, the truth is inescapable, and so the "dead" quote makes itself apparent at the bottom.
The message it means to convey is that the happiness we center our life around, the cake at the end of the tunnel, or "God", is false, even if we try to escape that fact.
