Photo Montage

This piece is not so much a representation or explanation of time, but rather a illustration of my own experience of time. I find that, depending on my location, the way I perceive time can change. Specifically, when I am by myself, I tend to drift on into an isolated intellectual space, where time effectively does not exist as it is overshadowed by my day dreaming. However, when I am around people that I am familiar with, I am brought back into the real world and am again aware of moments beyond the present, conscious of my past and present.

To illustrate this, I took pictures of an outside dining area at nighttime. Then, the next day, I found a friend to pose for pictures in the area during the daytime. I then arranged pictures into one, in which it was bright everywhere the my friend was standing, and dark everywhere else. I used a series of adjustment layers to add color, and to add contrast between the light and dark areas.
