So I just finished the only homework assignment I've recieved in any class thus far, other than the self-portrait we did.
The task: "Find 5 song titles that use improper grammar."

I never thought I'd say it, but for once, I really, REALLY wish I had some actual homework.

ReplyDeleteSeeking additional challenges, eh? Any interest in compiling a graphic novel in your spare time. Your illustrations are great and would work delightfully well in this context. Perhaps you could add some lovely and disgusting and bitter prose to the images (I'd be pleased to collaborate on the writing / editing if you're interested). Perhaps something autobiographical? Check out the work of Daniel Clowes and Harvey Pekar. We could try and finish by the end of the semester?
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested too. Why not make it a class project? I love storytelling, I find stories in entertainment a very fascinating medium that is sometimes played down by the shock/entertainment value itself. For example, check out Flight - www.flightcomics.com. I've loved graphic novels since I started reading Spider-Man as a kid, and this is by the far the most diverse and unique compilation of ideas I've ever seen. If we could do something in a vein such as this, I think it'd be a really cool way to express ourselves as a collective group of aspiring artists.
ReplyDeleteZach, interesting idea. Let's talk about this in class on Monday after the critiques. Perhaps we can put something together. I'm always down for a new project.
